Fill in the Z83 job application form online

Applying for a government job? Every advertised post asks for the Z83. Type your answers here, check them, then download the official Z83 as a PDF with your answers already on it. Add your signature, date and initials on screen (or leave them and sign by hand after printing), then print it and attach it to your application.

Official Z83 template Edit as often as you like Free · nothing is uploaded
Before you start. Have the job advert open. Copy the position, department and reference number exactly as advertised — one Z83 is for one post. Your names and ID number must match your ID.
How this works & what to do after you download
  1. Fill in sections A to G. The questions use the same wording as the official form, in the same order.
  2. Press Download my Z83 (PDF). Your answers are written onto the official form in blue.
  3. Sign, date and initial. Draw your signature, check the date and initials in the Declaration section. They are printed on the form for you. An unsigned form can be disqualified, so don't skip this. If the advert asks for an original ink signature, leave the signature box empty and sign by hand after you print.
  4. Attach your CV and uncertified copies of your ID and qualifications unless the advert says otherwise. If you are shortlisted, you will be asked for certified copies.
  5. Send it the way the advert says (e-mail, post or hand delivery) before the closing date.

Don't leave questions blank — if a question does not apply to you, choose “No” or write “N/A”.

Notes printed on the official form

Your personal details must match your ID or passport. Use a passport number if you are not a South African. Race and gender are asked so the department can follow the Employment Equity Act, 1998. Information about convictions is considered against the nature of the job. If there is not enough space, you may attach extra information on a separate page. Departments must accept certified documents that are up to 6 months old, unless the advert asks for a longer period. Each form must be signed and initialled.
