Keep your books in ten minutes a day

Write down the money that comes in and goes out, snap a photo of each receipt, and see your profit for the month. Export to Excel, PDF or CSV for your records. Free, with no sign-up, and everything stays on this device.

Three habits

  • Write down every rand that comes in, on the day it comes in.
  • Write down every rand that goes out, and photograph the receipt.
  • Once a month, check your total against your bank statement.

Keep these

  • Every invoice or quote you send (the ICG Invoice & Quote Builder saves them as PDF).
  • Receipts and supplier invoices for what you buy.
  • Bank statements, one folder per month. SARS can ask to see your records, and the usual rule is to keep them for five years: confirm at sars.gov.za.

Good to know

  • Keep business and personal money apart: use a separate account.
  • Pick the category that fits best and stay consistent. It makes month-end easy.
  • VAT only applies if you are registered for VAT. Leave it off if you are not.
This is a record-keeping aid, not accounting software or tax advice. For company financial statements, tax returns or VAT returns, speak to a qualified accountant or tax practitioner. Your data lives only in this browser: use Backup regularly.

Add an entry

Attach a photo of the receipt or invoice. It is shrunk and saved on this device only; it is never uploaded.

    Export and backup

Exports use the month shown above.

    Backup and restore

Your entries and receipt pictures live only in this browser. Clearing your browser data or changing phone deletes them, so save a backup file now and then.

Delete every entry and receipt from this device? This cannot be undone.
